Walks (see events for dates)

The monthly Club walk, normally using a coach for transport, is a core part of the Club’s activities. We usually plan 3 different levels of walks to suit all ages and abilities, but we also encourage members to plan their own walks in the area. The walk is normally on the first or second Sunday of the month.

The current cost of a seat on the coach is £18. You can either pay for a seat in person at the indoor meeting, or contact Lindsay Macdonald by email. If you book after the meeting, you will be expected to pay on the coach. Please note that it is customary to give a £1 tip to the driver.

The cut-off date for booking a seat on the bus is the last Wednesday before the Sunday walk, as we need to know how many members are going on the coach in order to confirm the details with the supplier. Bookings cannot be guaranteed after that deadline, so please book early.

The coach leaves from the car park behind Boots the Chemists at Glenrothes Town Centre at 7.30am prompt. There are also additional pick up points. If you wish to be picked up on the way, please tell us when you book.

Booking Conditions

Members booked on a club walk should continually check the weather forecast/ club website for any changes to the planned walk, the club will try to offer an alternative walk if possible.

If in any doubt contact the bus/walks convenor.

If you book and pay for your seat in person, but then fail to turn up in time for the transport for whatever reason, you will not get a refund. If you telephone and book your seat, but then fail to turn up for whatever reason, you are still liable for payment. A failure to pay will exclude you from any future walks.

If there are not enough members booked to make a bus economically viable, then alternative forms of transport, such as a minibus or car sharing will be arranged.

In exceptional circumstances, such as very low numbers or severe weather, the walk may be cancelled and a full refund given.

Equipment and Fitness

You will need to ensure that you are adequately equipped and the following kit list might be helpful. You will also need to be sure that any particular walk is going to be within your capabilities. Please discuss with a member of the committee if you are unsure.
